Just bought our tickets for the Tokyo Type Directors Club Exhibition hosted by Werner Design Werks as part of Concordia University’s Leaders of Design Series on Wednesday, October 15th. “This unprecedented exhibition will feature 150 of the most outstanding pieces from the 2014 Tokyo TDC competition, offering a rare opportunity to see these original works in person.” Presentation lecture featuring a dialogue between Tokyo TDC exhibition juror Jon Forss and Ryan Hageman kicks off the festivities at 6pm. See you there!
Last night the crew at Office put together a fantastic fundraiser benefiting 826 Valencia. I Don’t Believe in You Either, a big foot inspired art show, was held at The Bold Italic’s space and was the perfect match of decor! We are so excited that someone finally nabbed all those awesome thrift store works of art that every designer has always wanted to paint on as well—and they did a phenomenal job. You can see the official preview here. As for the pieces that didn’t sell last night, well, they can be scored (shortly) in Office’s shop.
Here’s some shots from Friday’s Lab Partners show at Super7. We had a great time hanging with the East Bay crew, taking in all of Ryan and Sarah’s amazing illustrations. Be sure to stop by the show and pick up some prints!
The best part about moving to a new place is meeting fun, nice and talent new people—and Heather Diane Hardison meets all the criteria. She has a new show up at the Curiosity Shoppe in San Francisco entitled, Illustrated Bites. It’s a show that brings together her two great loves—Home Cooked and Hand Painted. If her style looks a bit familiar, it should. She is one of the sign painters at New Bohemia Signs, a shop full of fabulous artists.
The show runs through May 25th, so if you’re in the area be sure to stop by. You can also check out Heather’s blog by the same name, which features illustrated recipes. I’m getting hungry just looking at it.
