Har Mar Superstar

For those who don’t know, Har Mar is much more than a retro mall in the suburbs of St. Paul, MN. It is the namesake to one of the best on stage (and on twitter) performers of this decade. Sean Tillmann, aka; Har Mar Superstar, started his career in the Twin Cities’ based band Calvin Krime and later transitioned to R&B, finding his long awaited niche.
Har Mar’s music is catchy as hell. I remember driving through south Minneapolis when I first heard “No Chorus” —a 1.5 minute rap about avoiding a traffic ticket from a female cop through his sexual prowess. When the song ended my jaw was on the floor and I carried an expression of “What the hell just happened!” My second encounter with the Superstar was watching his “Power Lunch” video at Sound Unseen. It was officially on! I knew I needed to see this guy live!
Har Mar now lives in L.A. and I’m proud that he’s repping a strong Midwest vibe. I hadn’t seen him live since this summer’s lyn-lake festival so I was excited to watch him perform this past Friday at Spaceland in Silverlake where he’s been hosting a Minnesota showcase for the month of February. Be sure to check him out on Friday the 25th for the last installment.

Har Mar’s Minneapolis guests for the night were Marijuana Deathsquads and Doomtree members; P.O.S. and Mike Mictlan (pictured below).

I just caught Har Mar Superstar again some months ago in a Northern CA club. He is awesome and oh so SEXY. Now at Spaceland — so cool!
