Earlier this summer we had the great pleasure of meeting the Lost Type crew during their Field Trip SF, where they went letter hunting in San Francisco’s Mission district. In the end, producing their first installment of Mission Script, designed by James T. Edmondson. While they were here, another Lost Type masterpiece was also in the making. Let me introduce to you DUDE by Daniel Gneiding. Dude is a robust slab serif with a remarkable twelve different styles—pretty unreal! We were definitely honored to play a part, contributing a spread to the Dude Type Specimen Book. Great job Daniel and everyone who contributed to the book.
Last night the crew at Office put together a fantastic fundraiser benefiting 826 Valencia. I Don’t Believe in You Either, a big foot inspired art show, was held at The Bold Italic’s space and was the perfect match of decor! We are so excited that someone finally nabbed all those awesome thrift store works of art that every designer has always wanted to paint on as well—and they did a phenomenal job. You can see the official preview here. As for the pieces that didn’t sell last night, well, they can be scored (shortly) in Office’s shop.
This Fall brought a bunch of new children’s books to the shelves and we were so excited to see many of our friends as the creative force behind them. Check them out if you’re looking for some great reads for your little ones.
Since we’ve been in San Francisco, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Brett MacFadden (pictured above: right) of Macfadden & Thorpe. Brett’s work with design partner Scott Thorpe spans a wonderful array of styles, is quite thoughtful and always striking. Their recent installation for the 25th International Brno Biennial got me thinking: “Hey I should do a post on these dudes.” Enjoy!
